FM College student’s death case: Crime Branch unearths key CCTV footage from petrol pump

In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the death of a student of FM College in Balasore, the Crime Branch has stumbled upon a vital clue that could help reconstruct the events of the fateful day.

Sources close to the probe revealed that the investigation team has obtained CCTV footage showing a young woman purchasing petrol in a plastic bottle from a fuel station near the college on July 12, the day of the incident.

The footage reportedly shows a woman walking to the petrol pump and buying approximately one liter of petrol in a bottle.

Following this lead, Crime Branch officers visited the petrol pump again on Thursday night for detailed questioning and verification.
Significantly, an employee who was on duty at the pump on the day has admitted to selling the petrol to a woman in a plastic bottle.

Investigators are now analyzing the footage to confirm the identity of the woman and determine whether she had any direct or indirect role in the death of the FM College student.

While the motive behind the petrol purchase remains unknown, officials are probing whether it was used in the alleged incident or if it was merely a coincidence. The recovered visuals are currently under close forensic examination, and the petrol pump staff's statements have been recorded as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Sources indicate that this clue could be a turning point in the case, especially as the origin and use of petrol had remain unclear until now. The Crime Branch is now exploring multiple angles, including whether the deceased or someone else brought the petrol to the spot.

”It is our fault that we sold petrol in a bottle. A lady came to petrol pump and bought the fuel. We don’t know her,” said an employee of the petrol pump.
