The firemen, havildars and drivers of the fire services department will go on mass leave from February 21 over their two major demands.
Their association informed this at a press meet on Monday.

For the last two months, they have been protesting wearing black badges. They said that as the state government did not meet their demands, they were bound to take the decision of going on mass leave.

“We demand salaries, allowances and levels at par with the Odisha police. The registration of our association is the second demand. Our association was formed in 1980 but it hasn't been registered.  So, our association requires registration. The government is not listening to our demands,” Akshya Pradhan, president of the association said.

He warned that the agitating drivers and havildars will go on mass leave from February 21 if the government fails to sort out their issues soon.

Echoing the same, another protesting fire personnel said, "Since we don't have any registered association, we are not able to present our problems before the government."
