A fire broke out following a firecrackers explosion in a government quarters located in Unit 2 area in Bhubaneswar on Thursday morning.

According to sources, the fire broke out at Type-2 quarters number 13/2 after the firecrackers stored in a room exploded.

The firecrackers were manufactured illegally in the quarters, sources informed, adding that the quarters was alloted to one Niranjan Lenka, who is posted at State secretariat.

Besides, questions are being raised if the original occupant was staying in the quarters or it was rented to someone else.

Though no casualty was reported in the fire mishap, the government quarters suffered huge damage.

On being informed about the incident, a team of Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control before it could spread to nearby buildings.
