GFTN CEO Sopnendu Mohanty
A Fintech hub will be set up in Odisha, informed Sopnendu Mohanty, the CEO of Singapore-based Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN). GFTN had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Odisha government in this regard.
In an exclusive interview with OTV, GFTN CEO Sopnendu Mohanty said a competency centre will be set up at the Fintech hub. Here Indian Fintech companies or insurance companies along with those globally will engage in software processing and technical work.
Apart from this, upskilling and reskilling of college students and the existing workforce in Odisha will be done to make them ready for the industry.

“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat 2047 mission, there is a proposal where all Indians will get insurance. At this centre, necessary work will be taken up in this regard. New technologies like AI and other sectors will be given prominence. Our vision is to bring in real development and financial inclusion as well,” said Mohanty.
Mohanty further said that now the MoU has been signed, and they will discuss with the Odisha government where the centre will come up and which companies to be called in the near future.
The work is likely to start within a month. Odisha’s progress has been remarkable and we feel proud of it, he added.
On Friday, the Odisha government signed eight MoUs with Singapore-based organisations for collaborations in different fields including skill development, green energy and industrial park development.
