The Orissa High Court on Friday fixed a deadline for the completion of the construction and repair works of all roads in Cuttack. As per the latest order, the High Court has directed various agencies to complete the road repair works by October 27, 2023.

The senior officials of various departments personally deposed before the High Court during the hearing and presented their stand on the matter. The officials of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), PwD, R& B Division, Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) deposed before the court today.

Apart from the road construction and repair works, that the work for the ongoing box drain work will be completed by March, 2024, informed amicus curiae.  The next hearing of the matter will be held on November 2, 2023.

Earlier, the Orissa High Court pulled up several organisations including the Cuttack Municipality Corporation (CMC), the Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO), and the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) for the deplorable roads conditions in different parts of the city.

While hearing the petition, a bench comprising acting Chief Justice B R Sarangi and Judge M S Raman said the concerned authorities can’t fix the timeline for completion of the projects at their sweet-will. Rather they should expedite the work.
