Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha assembly Jayanarayan Mishra on Thursday dared the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government to file a chargesheet against him if he is a criminal.

While speaking during the zero hour of the ongoing budget session, Mishra said that he will give proof on how the ruling party killed a person to win the Bijepur bypoll. Taking a jibe, Mishra said that several BJD leaders are saying a lot of things about him outside Assembly. Even some of them also termed him as a ‘habitual offender’, he said.

Launching a counter-attack, Mishra said that 180 cases are registered against 46 MLAs from the ruling BJD. Of this, cases under section 307 have been registered against six MLAs. According to Mishra, 19 cases are lodged against Soumya Ranjan Patnaik and 29 cases against Talcher MLA.

Mishra further questioned the statements of Minister Pramila Mallick who recently alleged conspiracy by Union Minister and LoP behind the murder of Naba Das.

“The concerned minister is trying to influence the probe,” said Mishra. The LoP further stated that a case was slapped against him despite being shoved and misbehaved by a lady officer.

“I will quit politics if it is proved that I have misbehaved with anyone,” Mishra added.

Meanwhile, the reaction of BJD leaders could not be obtained over the allegations brought by Jayaranayan Mishra.
