As the countdown to 2025 begins, people in Odisha cherished the year’s final sunset across various picturesque locations. Coastal sites such as Puri, Konark, and Chandrabhaga in the State attracted onlookers who gathered to witness this beautiful moment, reflecting on the year past and looking forward to fresh beginnings, on Tuesday.

As the evening unfolds, people across India are readying themselves to embrace the New Year with traditional customs and lively celebrations.

New Zealand has already ushered in the New Year with vibrant celebrations. Auckland led the world with a dazzling display of fireworks and lights at the Sky Tower, drawing locals and tourists alike to kick off the year in spectacular fashion.

As one of the first countries to reach the New Year, New Zealand is seven and a half hours ahead of Indian Standard Time (IST).

Following Auckland's lead, Sydney in Australia marked the New Year 2025 with its renowned fireworks over the Sydney Harbour, offering another awe-inspiring sight as Australians came together to revel in the festivities.

Worth mentioning, the Excise Department has executed stringent measures for the Zero Night celebrations, with no temporary licenses issued for the occasion. Moreover, the Department is vigilantly monitoring illegal liquor sales. The State government is pursuing strict actions against those involved in such trade, Excise Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said earlier.

In addition, the Excise Minister expressed that strict directives have been issued to maintain robust inspections up until the end of January 2025.
