Fake HIV, Cancer-Curing Doctor Arrested in Bhubaneswar

A self-proclaimed HIV, cancer, and skin specialist doctor was arrested for cheating people of lakhs of rupees in Bhubaneswar’s Laxmisagar. Without proper qualification, the fake doctor claimed to be a specialist in curing HIV and Cancer.

Two of his associates, claiming to be skin specialists have also been arrested. The three were part of Asclepius Wellness Private Limited and sold herbal products on the pretext of curing HIV, cancer, and skin fairness. Most of their customers were women who reached out to them to get fair skin. Promising an ever-glowing and fair skin, the accused cheated several women of lakhs of rupees.

The main accused has been identified as Ajit Kumar Kandi. Laxmisagar Police has seized some cash and a vehicle from his possession. The matter came to the fore after a victim lodged a complaint with Laxmisagar police.

According to sources, the accused promised a woman fair glowing skin and prescribed her some medicines and fairness creams. Much to the shock of the woman, her skin got even worse with more scars all over her body and face.

“The victim had approached us with a formal complaint. We informed the DCP about the incident and finally made the arrest. The medicines he provided neither had any medicinal values or wellness,” informed Manas Kumar Deo, SP, Zone-4.
