A man impersonating a doctor has been apprehended by the Bhadrak Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) from the district headquarters hospital premises on Thursday morning.

The youth has been identified as Rajib Lochan Nayak, who hails from Jajpur

According to sources, Rajib came to the hospital dressed up as a doctor and asked the security guard the way to the Obstetrician and Gynaecologist department by saying he is a new recruit.

In the meantime, the CDMO Dr Santosh Patra spotted Rajib roaming suspiciously on the hospital premises. When Patra asked Rajib several questions, he failed to give satisfactory answers.

Later, he was handed over to the Bhadrak Town Police and during preliminary question, he was found to be a fake doctor.

“The man dressed like a doctor with a stethoscope around his neck came and asked me the way to the gynaecology ward. He even said he has joined recently. He asked me where are the labour room and operation theatre. Then, the CDMO detained him,” said Urbasi Samal, security guard.

“I visited the Obstetrician and Gynaecologist ward at the DHH and I found Rajib on the stairs. When I asked him why are you holding the stethoscope, he could not give any satisfactory answer. Later, he was handed over to the police and an investigation into the matter is on,” said Dr Santosh Patra, CDMO.
