Express train derails in Sambalpur car shed, no injuries reported

Two coaches including the pantry car of Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express derailed on the washing line in the Railway car shed at Sambalpur late on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred when the train was on its way to the car shed at Khetrajpur for washing after arriving at Sambalpur station. The pantry car and another adjacent coach of the train derailed while going to the car shed.

No injuries were reported as the train was empty during the mishap.

Following the derailment, the Railways authorities sprang into action and brought back the coach on tracks.

Rail traffic remained unaffected on the route as the mishap had occurred on the washing line and not on the main line.

The train will again resume its journey today, informed the East Coast Railway.

The actual reason for the derailment is yet to be ascertained. The railways have begun a probe in this connection.
