Ex- IIC of Kujang PS, accused of cheating lady home guard, suspended over misconduct

Tapan Nahak, former IIC of Kujang PS, has been suspended over allegations of misconduct involving a female home guard. Authorities are investigating as he remains absconding.

Tapan Nahak, former Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Kujang police station, on Wednesday was placed under suspension following allegations of misconduct and abuse of official position. Later in the day, he was arrested and sent to jail after the SDJM court rejected his bail plea in connection with a lady home guard case.

Tapan Nahak is now in the eye of a storm for allegedly maintaining a physical relationship with a female home guard under the false promise of marriage.

As per the official order, the former IIC of Kujang police station has been placed under suspension with immediate effect in the interest of public service and to ensure fairness in enquiry.

Allegations of Misconduct

It was alleged that during his tenure as the Additional Inspector-in-Charge at Jagatsinghpur police station, Nahak allegedly pursued a romantic relationship with a female home guard under the pretext of marriage. Nahak subsequently was transferred as IIC of Kujang police station.

Despite promises of commitment, he is accused of failing to follow through on these assurances, leading to the victim filing a complaint at the Jagatsinghpur Sadar Police Station.

Current Status

Nahak is reported to be absconding since the complaint was lodged. The allegations have prompted an investigation by the authorities.
Senior police authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining ethical standards within the force, underscoring the seriousness of such allegations.

“During the period the order remains in force, Nahak will remain under the disciplinary control of DIG of Police, CR, Cuttack and draw SA and DA as admissible under Rule 90 of Odisha Service Code,” the official order read.
