Eminent Odia cine actor and director, Sadhu Meher passed away on Friday. He was 84 at the time of breathing his last.

He was a prominent figure in both Odia and Hindi film industries for decades. He had captivated the audience with his brilliant acting skills. He was renowned for his brilliant acting skills in movies like Ankur, Mrugaya, Bhuvan Shome, and Manthan.

Meher was conferred the Padma Sri by the Government of India in 2017 for his lifetime contribution to the field of entertainment.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his condolences following the sad demise of Meher.

“I am deeply saddened to know about the sad demise of eminent film actor and director Sadhu Meher. He has left his mark in both Odia and Hindi films with flawless performances. He is the first Odia actor to be honored with the National Film Award. His demise is an irreparable loss to the art world. My condolences to the bereaved family members at such a sad time. May his soul rest in peace,” wrote Patnaik on social media platform X (earlier known as Twitter). (sic)

Several actors, directors, and personalities of the Odia cinema fraternity also expressed their condolences on the sad demise of Meher.
