In an unfortunate incident in Dhenkanal, Odisha, a mother elephant and her calf were trapped in the Sapua main canal under Rasol section.

Elephants stuck in canal in Dhenkanal

In an unfortunate turn of events, an elephant and a calf accidentally got trapped in the Sapua main canal of Lahada under Rasol section of Dhenkanal last night. 

According to sources, after extensive efforts of five long hours, the Forest Department officials rescued the elephant duo with the help of a bulldozer. 

As per sources, a herd of elephants was passing through the area last night. However, the mother and calf fell into the canal in their way. The rest of the herd remained nearby throughout the night, keeping watch over them.

Upon receiving news of the incident, officials from the Forest Department rushed to the scene with a bulldozer to rescue the elephants and covered the canal with soil to pave a path for the jumbos. 

Following the rescue operation, both mother elephant and calf went into a nearby forest.
