Our efforts will be to ensure electricity for every household by August end of this year, said Odisha Energy Minister, Pratap Keshari Deb on Monday.

Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, Deb said, “Household electrification was 18 percent in Odisha. Today, it is 97 percent. This means we have provided electricity connection to 97 percent of the households.”

“We have already provided Rs 415 crore to the DISCOMs for providing electricity connections to the left-over households. We will try to achieve this by August 2023,” said the Minister.

Going to inform about the underground cable system for uninterrupted power supply, Deb said, “In Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, the ongoing underground cabling work will be completed by December 2024. The Energy Department is carrying out this cabling work under the State Capital Region Improvement of Power System (SCRIPS) scheme."

Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Additional Chief Secretary to the Energy Department said, “It is a fact that SCRIPS work is not completed yet. For example, Satyanagar Grid work is yet to be started. The sanctioned SCRIPS work is targeted to be completed by December 2024.”
