As many as seven persons died and eight others were injured in lightning strikes at several places in Odisha on Saturday.
A woman working in a field under Boudh’s Rautabahal village died in a lightning strike this afternoon.
Similarly, two youths were killed after lightning struck them at Kutisingha village under Bolangir’s Loisingha block and Aranga village under Khordha’s Banapur block.
Three locals of the Aranga village were also injured in a lightning strike and were later rushed to the hospital for treatment.
A minor boy was also killed at Kadamajhola village in the same Banapur block following a lightning strike.
A farmer at Sarana village under Jagatsinghpur’s Balikuda block, an elderly man at Darupani village under Gajapati’s Mohana block, a youth at Badasingha village under Angul’s Bantala police limits also lost their lives in lightning strikes and a 55-year-old man died
One person at Jallarpur village in Cuttack’s Niali and three others at Talasakara village in Ganjam’s Buguda were injured in lightning strikes. They are currently under treatment at hospitals.
Apart from that six cattle also died in a lightning strike at Badakuda village under Adaba police limits.
On Friday, seven persons including four students and two teachers were injured in lightning strikes in Nirakarpur and Dalaka areas of Khordha.
