ED raids vindictive in nature: BJD MLA Prafulla Samal

Hours after the officials of the Enforcement Directorate raided 10 locations linked to former Odisha Minister and senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Prafulla Samal on Thursday, he responded by saying that the raids were vindictive in nature. 

As per reports, the ED officials carried out marathon raids in four places in Bhubaneswar and six places in Bhadrak. The raids started at 7 am and ended at 10 pm, informed sources.

After the raids, the former Minister said that such action was nothing but vindictive.

His lawyer had earlier said, "The raids are a conspiracy against my client. We are trying to contact the ED officials but they are neither seeing us nor commenting anything. Prafulla Samal has many diseases and needs continuous treatment. The ED officials are harassing him."  

The ED also conducted raids on the house of the former principal of Barapada Engineering College. The ED crackdown is suspected to be in connection with the alleged financial irregularities at the institution.
