Anticipating a surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Chhath Puja festivities, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced special trains between Puri and Patna.

The specially designated 08449 Puri-Patna Special Train will depart from Puri at 11:30 pm on Monday and Wednesday, ensuring timely transportation for passengers.

On the return journey, the 08450 Patna-Puri Special Train will leave Patna at 6 pm on Tuesday and Thursday.

"East Coast Railway has arranged two trains from Puri to Patna which will run on November 13 and 15. We are anticipating a lot of rush and therefore, the train has a capacity of 1000. It will return from Patna on November 14 and 16,” informed Biswajit Sahu, East Coast Rail Chief PRO.

“We have increased the RPF security to ensure the smooth travel of passengers,” he added.

Sahu also appealed travellers not to carry inflammable items and firecrackers with them during travel as it is illegal and a punishable offense. We have increased RPF search and if a passenger is found with crackers, he/she could be arrested and fined upto Rs 1000.

The proactive decision aims to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers during the significant cultural event celebrated fervently in the region.

With Chhath Puja slated for November 19-20, these measures come ahead of the rituals commencing on November 17 and continuing until November 20.
