Food Suppliers Minister Krushna Chandra Patra
The E-KYC verification process will not be stopped until the last applicant is verified, informed Food Suppliers Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Sunday.
According to Minister Patra, E-KYC verification of around three crore people will be done and among those, the process has been completed for around two crore people.
“The process will take around one or one-and-a-half months. After the completion of the E-KYC process, the number of false cards will be known. Then we will omit them and provide ration cards to eligible beneficiaries,” said Patra.
Earlier, the state government had informed that new ration cards will be issued to those applicants who are found eligible after Aadhaar-based E-KYC verification of cards in circulation.
Applicants who are eligible to be covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) will be issued the cards. However, the issue of new cards is subject to the completion of E-KYC verification of the existing cards.
