Durga puja in Odisha: Gold ornaments worth Rs 15L looted from puja mandap in Jajpur
Throwing an open challenge to Odisha Police, a few unidentified miscreants looted gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 15 lakhs from a puja mandap in Jajpur district late on Friday night. As per initial reports, the miscreants have looted the ornaments of the Goddess and other presiding deities at Barundei Bangalisahi puja mandap under Korei police limits.
The members of the puja mandap had left after locking the mandap. Two staff were also sleeping inside the temple. Despite the presence of the staff, the miscreants looted the ornaments from the mandap. It was around 3 am when the staff woke up and found the gates open and the ornaments missing.
Later, other officials were informed about the incident. The Puja committee members alleged that ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh have been looted from the mandap.
Upon getting the information, the police started an investigation into the matter.
