BJP-BJD Leaders Lock Horns Over 2024 Election Result
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday slammed senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Prasanna Acharya for his recent remarks that the popularity of Naveen Patnaik is still intact. Earlier, Acharya had also alleged that four persons are running the BJP government in Odisha.
Senior BJP leader Samir Mohanty today stated that the BJD is not able to digest the victory of BJP in the last elections and the party is totally demoralised. It is only due to ego that BJD is not accepting the verdict of the people, he said.
“It appears that BJD is demoralised after the defeat in the 2024 elections. It is for this reason that the BJD is unable accept the verdict of the people who are the owners in democracy,” said Mohanty.
The BJP leader further said that the BJD leader Prasanna Acharya very well knows the way he was sidelined and the situation in the party over ticket distribution in the last elections.
In his statement, the BJP leader Samir Mohanty stated that if Naveen Patnaik was so popular then how he get defeated by a margin of over 16000 votes from the Kantabanji assembly seat?
“He (Prasanna Acharya) knows what kind of internal situation is prevailing in BJD and theirs is no longer a party of one leader as there are multiple leaders. The Rajya Sabha members also do not have faith on party president as two members had recently quit,” Mohanty added.
Responding to the BJP leader’s statements, BJD leader Arun Sahoo said, “Only Naveen Patnaik comes to the fore when it comes to Odisha. The people, media and members of the ruling party are also referring to Naveen Patnaik as CM even today. Naveen Patnaik is the only alternative and people are ready to give a mandate in favour of BJD if the elections are held today.”
