Drone attack in Bhubaneswar
Panic gripped residents of Paikarapur in Bhubaneswar under Nayapalli police limits late Saturday night following a fire breakout and sudden explosion in a residential house. The incident, initially feared to be a drone attack, was later confirmed to have been caused by an electric short circuit.
Eyewitnesses reported that a house in the area abruptly caught fire due to short circuit, ensuing a loud explosion. The unexpected blast led to widespread fear, prompting residents to remain indoors, uncertain of the cause. Subsequent investigations confirmed the blaze was triggered by an electrical short circuit, dispelling earlier fears of an aerial strike.
This local scare comes at a time of heightened alert across the country, coinciding with recent tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor — a military strike initiated by India in response to Pahalgam terror attack where at least 26 innocent tourists were massacred by four armed terrorists.
Meanwhile, hours after India and Pakistan reached an understanding for ceasefire, New Delhi on Saturday accused Islamabad of breaching the agreement. In a late-night media briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri accused Pakistan of violating the ceasefire and called upon to take "appropriate steps" and handle the matter with “seriousness and responsibility”.
However, it is now being reported that the situation is gradually returning to normal as both nations have agreed to adhere to ceasefire regulations.
