Driver among 2 injured as sewage suction tanker rams into houses in Cuttack slum

At least two persons sustained grievous injuries after a sewage suction tanker engaged in cleaning a septic tank rammed into houses at a slum near Deer Park in Cuttack early Thursday morning.

The incident occurred while the septic tanker was engaged in cleaning a septic tank in the slum near Deer Park by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC). Two persons including the driver of the tanker were critically injured in the freak mishap.

The driver has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital where his condition was stated to be normal after treatment, reports said.

On the other hand, a house and a shop in the slum have been completely damaged in the mishap. Even as the exact reason for the freak mishap was yet to be ascertained, locals alleged the driver was driving in a drunken state.

The incident triggered tension in the area.
