A student's journey was tragically halted hours ahead of the matriculation or the class 10 board examination in Odisha. The young pupil, identified as Sekhar Majhi, fell sick and died ahead of the examination. He was declared dead shortly upon reaching the hospital. The sorrowful event took place in Baripada of Bahanaga block in Balasore district.

Incident Details 

Sekhar Majhi, son of Kailash Chandra Majhi from a local village, began suffering from severe abdominal pains three days prior to the exam after dining at a neighbour's residence. He was admitted to the local hospital and later rushed to the town of Soro for treatment and was later discharged after showing signs of recovery. However, the discomfort persisted, shadowing him up to the day of his examination.

Day of the Exam

On the morning of the exam today, Sekhar attempted to proceed to the examination centre but unfortunately fell sick at his home. Despite his family's urgent efforts to shift him to the hospital, doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead on arrival.

The community is left mourning the young scholar's premature departure, marking an unforeseen tragedy in the otherwise routine preparation for pivotal academic milestones.

Meanwhile, over 5 lakh students are appearing for the matriculation examination which began across Odisha today. The matriculation exam is being conducted at 3,133 centers in the state. The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha has undertaken stringent measures to ensure the smooth conduct of examinations and prevent malpractices at examination centres.
