Domestic violence case: Anubhav, Varsha depose before court

BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty and his actress wife Varsha Priyadarshini deposed before the SDJM court in Cuttack for the second day on Wednesday in connection with the ongoing domestic violence case.

Opposing the social media posts recently made by Anubhav, the counsel of Varsha alleged that such posts have damaged her client's reputation.

Varsha has moved a petition at the SDJM court, seeking a direction to stop the BJD MP from making such postings about her. 

On the other hand, Varsha was cross-examined with a volley of questions by Lalitendu Mishra, the advocate of Anubhav regarding her allegation of domestic violence by his client during the closed-door hearing of the case. However, Varsha's cross-examination could not be completed today and the next hearing of the case has been scheduled for October 18.

"The first phase of cross-examination of Varsha was done and a lot of questions were asked about her allegations against her husband. The next hearing will be held on October 18," said Mishra.

On the other hand, Varsha’s advocate, Anjan Kumar Jena said, “We have moved a petition at the SDJM court, seeking a direction to stop Anubhav from making social postings about her. This is damaging her reputation."

Notably, the Odisha family court on September 23 rejected the divorce petition filed by Anubhav against his wife Varsha as the couple could not prove their allegations and counter allegations.
