Bolangir police has intensified the probe into the death case of a Plus-2 girl student at Nikhil Nagar slum area in the district.  As per sources, the doll found beside the deceased could turn out to be a crucial piece of evidence to identity the killer.

The deceased Seshadri Nag was found dead with her throat slit at home on Thursday. During investigation, police found a doll beside the girl’s body which her parents denied to have seen before at their residence.

It is suspected that some miscreant gained entry into the house when the girl was alone and attacked her with a sharp weapon before fleeing the spot.

The police along with a scientific team have launched a probe in this connection. Being a slum area, there are no CCTV cameras installed in any of the houses in that area making it difficult to identify the culprit.

Police are suspecting that the miscreant first gifted a doll to Seshadri before murdering her. As part of their investigation, police are taking the help of a sniffer dog to nab the accused. After sniffing the doll recovered from the body of the deceased, the sniffer dog is trying to find the culprit by moving in different directions.

As per the victim’s parents, their daughter served them food before they went out to work in the field. But when the girl did not arrive at the field by noon with lunch, they suspected something wrong and returned to their home only to find their daughter lying in a pool of blood.

“We have not given any mobile phone to our daughter. She had no close friends. When we returned home, we found her lying on a pool of blood. A doll was found beside her body,” said the victim’s mother.
