Divyang running from pillar to post for govt allowance in Odisha

A divyang, Vijay Singh in Chandipur village under Balasore’s Nilagiri block has been running from pillar to post to get approval for his allowance.

He even came to the block office at Nilagiri, 7kms away from his home to follow up on his allowance application, on a trolley.

As per reports, Singh met with an accident a few years back which rendered him immobilised. Since then, he has been running from pillar to post seeking allowance from the government.

Friday, he came on a trolley rickshaw to meet the BDO in Nilagiri to put forth his grievance.

BDO of Nilagiri, Rahul Mandal said that his allowance could not be approved because he does not possess a medical certificate certifying him as a divyang.

“We asked him to bring a medical certificate from the CDMO. He can even wait for two more months after which we can provide him the certificate in our camp. We will distribute tricycles to divyangs in seven days,” said Mandal.
