Divyang elderly woman drags herself to receive pension in Malkangiri, Odisha

In a shocking incident, an elderly divyang woman identified as Mangaldei Harijan from ward number 10 under Malkangiri Municipality was forced to drag herself to the pension centre to get her monthly allowance of Rs 500.

As per reports, Mangaldei is handicapped waist-down and cannot use her legs to walk.

Sources said, she used to receive her pension at the doorstep. But nobody came down to her house to pay last month's pension. So fearing she may miss out on her pension this month too, she crawled for one kilometre to get to the centre to collect her pension.

Speaking to OTV, Mangaldei Harijan said, “I dragged myself to the allowance centre to get my monthly pension. After I reached the centre, they received my card and paid me Rs 500.”

“One of my legs was damaged in an accident. Another leg is weak too. So I have to crawl on the ground with the help of my palms,” she added.
