Former Jharsuguda MLA Dipali Das slams BJP
Former Jharsuguda Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and BJD leader Dipali Das expressed her dissatisfaction and slammed the ruling BJP over the detention of her brother and the son of former Minister Naba Das- Bishal Das by terming it illegal.
Dipali asserted that Bishal’s arrest involved the collaboration of two state police units and believes their family is being unfairly targeted.
“When they (Bishal and others) asked about the reason behind their detention, they were told by the police that they were investigating the incident into the missing a person. If the case in connection with the missing person has been registered in Jharsuguda constituency, the police should have taken them. Why did they leave them there?” asked Dipali.
“Based on whose order, they were detained so long? Was it a political pressure to stop the no-confidence motion voting? Are you so much afraid of voting?” she further asked.

In response to the incident, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President, Naveen Patnaik, has constituted a fact-finding team to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the case in Jharsuguda.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly refuted Dipali’s allegations, with spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra saying that Dipali and her family are merely creating a smokescreen to distract people from other issues.
“We always respect democracy. However, Naveen Patnaik was always decimating democracy. Whoever is the culprit will be given exemplary punishment during the tenure of the Mohan Majhi government,” said Mohapatra.
“As they have lost power and there is no possibility that they will come back to power again, they are shedding crocodile tears and bringing such allegations against the BJP government,” he added.
