Devotees in large numbers thronged Puri Jagannath Temple on Sunday to have the darshan of the ‘’Holy Trinity’ on the last day of 2023.

According to sources, devotees queued up before the temple to offer prayers to lord Jagannath since early morning today.

To ensure proper darshan of devotees, the Srimandir Temple Administration has taken necessary precautionary measures.

Special traffic restrictions have been imposed on routes given the anticipated rush today and on the New Year tomorrow. Market Chakka to Singhadwara  and Badadanda have been declared as ‘No Vehicle Zone.’

Likewise, the beachside road from Digabareni to Batighara has also been declared a ‘No Vehicle Zone.’ All the tourist and inter-state buses will be parked at Malatipatpur Bus Stand.

Accordingly, special arrangements have been made for all the light vehicles as they have been instructed to park at Saradhabali, Jail Road, and Jagannath Ballav parking lots.

The restrictions will be implemented for today and tomorrow informed senior Police officials.

“We are specially focusing on devotees and arranged volunteers to welcome them. For differently-abled persons and old age devotees, we have arranged separate queues and sheds. I really hope like last year, the devotees will have a good darshan of the lord. We have all the cooperation from servitors, officials of other departments, and the Puri Administration. We have also formed an extra barricade and deployed 15 platoons of police force as we expect a huge footfall of devotees for darshan and we have made all the arrangements in this regard,” said Puri SP K.B. Singh.
