Dense fog is likely to prevail in most parts of the coastal and interior districts of Odisha for two to three days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

IMD Bhubaneswar scientist, Umashankar Das said that after two days, the night temperatures at many places are likely to fall by two to three degrees due to a change in the wind movement.

As per reports, on Wednesday, dense fog enveloped places like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Rourkela, Angul, and Phulbani while the minimum visibility in Bhubaneswar was recorded at 100 metres. Due to foggy conditions, vehicular movement in most parts of the state was disrupted. Amid such foggy conditions in Puri, the ‘Patitapaban bana(the flag atop Srimandir) was not visible.

Das said that foggy conditions were reported from most places in Odisha and the conditions are likely to prevail for 24 hours. “After the next 24 hours, dry air will start blowing from north and western directions, leading to dry weather conditions. Moisture in the air will fall and fog will abate,” Das said.
