It seems that the dengue has already spread its tentacles which is evident from the fact that around 200 to 250 new positive cases are being detected on a daily basis from different districts in Odisha.

Health experts say that the current weather condition is favourable for the breeding of the dengue mosquitoes. The situation is likely to improve after the rainfall activities come to an end.

Public Health Director, Niranjan Mishra said that so far over 68,000 tests have been conducted. Out of which, 5,097 dengue positive cases have been detected from various parts of the state. Of the total cases, highest 2133 dengue cases have been reported from Khordha district alone.

Of the total 5,097 dengue positive cases, Puri district has reported 555 positive cases, 520 cases from Cuttack and 473 cases have been reported from Balasore district.

“Around 98 per cent of the dengue patients can recover with normal treatment. There is no need to panic even if the platelet count drops by 20,000,” said Mishra.
