Targeting the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-led Odisha government over 5T secretary’s ‘political’ visits and alleged subsequent violence, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said that democracy has been turned upside down in the State.

Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Manoj Mohapatra said, “Chief Minister never comes to the grievance cell, instead his private secretary roams everywhere in chopper under the guise of grievance redressal. It has already cost the State exchequer Rs 300 cr. That is why I say democracy has gone upside down in our State.”

Mohapatra raked up the law and order situation in Odisha too. “I do not know who rules the State. While the Chief Minister does not seem to know anything, BJD goons wearing 5T t-shirts are attacking political rallies,” he added.

It is pertinent to mention here that miscreants wearing t-shirts with ‘5T’ printed on them allegedly threatened to attack members of the Congress while the party was protesting 5T secretary's visit to Jajpur on Tuesday.

BJP’s Jajpur district president, Gautam Ray said, “It is alleged that BJD’s goonda bahini wearing 5T t-shirts attacked Congress workers. We condemn such incidents. It seems that attempts are being made by the ruling party to unleash terror using all means.”

Ray further alleged that not only in Jajpur, people across Odisha saw the double-face of the BJD which on the one hand speaks about non-violence and ‘Ahimsa’ and is spreading violence on the other.

No comments have been received from the ruling BJD in this regard.
