Delhi woman allegedly harassed in Odisha’s Jajpur; police investigation underway

In a shocking incident, a young woman from Delhi was allegedly harassed by two youths near Bhadrak Padia under Dasharathpur police station in Jajpur district on Sunday.

The victim has lodged a complaint of harassment at the police station.

As per reports, the woman was on a visit to the area with a local female friend. The alleged incident occurred while they were returning from a visit to the famous Biraja temple.

Police investigation

The woman has accused two young men of misbehaving with her. A formal complaint has been filed at the local police station. Authorities have launched an investigation and are continuing their inquiry into the matter.

As per the complaint, the young woman from Delhi had visited his female friend's house in Jajpur on the occasion of her father's death anniversary on Saturday. They visited the temple with their brothers on the following day.

However, two miscreants misbehaved with them when they were returning from the temple. They even assaulted their brothers when they tried to prevent them. The victims lodged a complaint about the incident at the local police station on the same day. They approached the police the next day again, when no actions were allegedly taken.

A week earlier, as many as 10 youths were arrested in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a young woman near the Gopalpur beach in Ganjam district. The incident reportedly occurred when the woman went to the beach with her male friend.
