While delay in the rituals of Lord Jagannath at Puri Srimandir has become a fairly regular affair, last evening’s delay in Bhoga Mandap and other rituals witnessed devotees returning empty-handed without 'bhoga'.
As per reports, the servitors of Suar and Mahasuar Nijog were allegedly involved in a dispute with other servitors following the Bada Snana ritual of the Lord. It resulted in delay in Bhoga coming out of the Bhoga Mandap even though it was prepared in the afternoon.
A senior servitor of Srimandir said, “The Lord was put to Bada Mahasnana after the second Bhoga Mandap was prepared. But the next ritual was not done by then, so the Bhoga remained inside the Bhoga Mandap. The Bhoga remained at the Bhoga Mandap from 4:35pm till 11pm last night.”
“After it was delayed, the devotees who had ordered Bhoga returned home with whatever they could find; the remaining Bhoga was locked at the Bhoga Mandap for the night,” he said.
“This is not the first time such a thing has happened. It happened because of the indifference of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA). No SJTA official interfered in last night’s fiasco. There is no action against the Servitors responsible for delay in the Lord’s ritual,” he added.
No comments were made by the SJTA officials in this regard till the filing of this piece.
