In an unexpected turn of events, Baba Chandrashekhar, the presiding deity of the famous Kapilash Temple in Dhenkanal was made no offering (Bhoga/Prasad) on Tuesday owing to a shortage of temple staff.

According to reports, even the rituals of Baba Chandrashekhar were delayed. This comes on account of the alleged unavailability of cooks at the temple. Due to a lack of cooks, the temple’s kitchen door is also locked.

The ‘Bhoga Lagi’ ritual was last done late at night on Monday at around 11:30 PM. However, the rituals on Tuesday were not conducted as all the cooks of the temple were reportedly sick and no other cook was available to make the Bhoga.

Meanwhile, devotees expressed their anger and dissatisfaction on social media over the current state of affairs questioning the temple management.

As per reports, the endowment inspector has accepted that there was a delay in the ‘Bhoga Lagi’ ritual of the Lord due to the illness of the cooks. Upon further questioning, the inspector said that the temple would approach other cooks who could carry forward the rituals.

Sources said that this is not the first time when such an incident has happened at the Kapilash temple and the local administration is allegedly unconcerned over the issue. It is learned that upon receiving complaints, some stopgap measures are taken but there has been no permanent solution to this recurring problem.
