Two bodies with bullet injuries were found in Subarnapur

In a development, the Binika Police on Wednesday has detained two persons from Chulimala village in connection with the shocking death of two cousin brothers at Chulimalagaon area in Subarnapur on Tuesday. A police service pistol was also recovered from the spot.

While the deceased cousins have been identified as Manoj Jhankar and Seshadev Jhankar of Chulimalagaon, the identities of the two detained are yet to be ascertained. 

According to sources, Manoj was a police constable and posted as a personal security officer (PSO).

The dead bodies with bullet injuries in their heads were found lying in a pool of blood in an open field. 

On being informed, a team from Binika Police Station reached the spot, recovered the bodies and seized the pistol from the crime scene. Subarnapur SP also reached the spot to launch an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, Jugal Bhue, a relative of the deceased constable claimed that Manoj was the PSO of BJD MLA Niranjan Pujari.

“The bodies have been sent to Binika hospital. Manoj Jhankar was the PSO of Niranjan Pujari,” said Bhue.

However, no reaction could be obtained from Pujari in this regard.

In response, Sambalpur IG Himanshu Lal said that an investigation into the incident is currently underway.

“We are collecting pieces of evidence and questioning some witnesses. More information could be divulged after a detailed investigation into the incident,” said Lal.
