Death of cousins in Sonepur: Cop shot his brother dead before killing self, inform police

In a startling revelation into the mysterious deaths of BJD MLA Niranjan Pujari’s Personal Security Officer (PSO) Manoj Jhankar and his cousin brother, Northern range IG Himansu Lal revealed that the cop shot his brother dead before killing self.

Ruling out past enmity as a reason behind suspected murders, Lal said, “After collecting scientific evidence and recording statements of more than 15 eyewitnesses, it is found that Manoj was in inebriated condition on the fateful day.”

“Manoj first blank fired before shooting his brother dead. Later, he shot himself dead using the police service pistol. We will get the postmortem reports this evening,” Lal added.

Earlier, Binika Police had detained two persons from Chulimala village in connection with the case.

Notably, bodies of Manoj, who was a police constable and posted as a PSO and his brother Seshadev Jhankar, with bullet injuries on their heads were found lying in a pool of blood in an open field in Chulimalagaon area in the district.
