Deadline for fitment of VLTD and panic buttons in vehicles extended in Odisha

In a major development, the Odisha Transport department on Tuesday extended the deadline for the fitment of Vehicle Location Tracking Device and Panic Buttons by four months.

As per the latest notification, the deadline has been extended from August 31 to December 31, 2023. Earlier, the deadline to comply with the requirement of the fitment of Vehicle Location Tracking Device and Panic buttons in the vehicles registered on or after 01.06.2023 was 31.05.2022 and for other vehicles, it was notified as 31.08.2023.

Whereas upon reviewing the available infrastructure and enlistment of device suppliers in the State; the government has decided to revise the dateline for the applicability of VLTD.

Dateline

a. The specified vehicles registered on or after 01.10.2023 shall have to comply with the requirement at the time of registration.

b. The specified vehicles registered on or before 30.09.2023 shall have to comply with the requirement by 31.12.2023.
