Putting their lives at stake, several visitors are entering the Kathajodi river near Naraj in Cuttack and taking selfies. Though warning is issued to them several times, they are not paying any heed, alleged local residents.

As per reports, several people used to visit the bank of Kathajodi river near Naraj to enjoy the cool breeze, tranquility, and scenic beauty of the place. In an act of adventure, many of them are braving the flowing water of the river near Naraj Dak Bunglow and taking selfies inside the river. Some of the guardians are even taking their small children inside the river which can lead to some mishaps as well.

Local people have expressed concern over such acts. Though many of them keep warning the visitors not to enter the river and take selfies inside the river as there is danger to their lives, the visitors seem to be least bothered.

“Many people have lost their lives by entering the river and trying to take selfies in the past. It’s a very dangerous act. Once one slips while taking selfie, he/she will fall into deep water and there will be little chance of survival,” said a local resident.

Some of the local people urged the administration to prevent the visitors from entering the river.

“We keep warning the visitors regularly not to venture into the river and take selfies inside. But they are ignoring us. We request the administration to make necessary arrangements to prevent the visitors from entering the river anymore so that precious lives could be saved,” said another local resident.
