Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to lash most parts of the state for four days starting September 30, said the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

As per the bulletin issued by the department, a cyclonic circulation has formed over Myanmar and the adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal. In the next 24 hours, a low-pressure area is likely to form over east-central and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal, the IMD informed.

The low-pressure area is likely to become well well-marked low-pressure area and move northwestwards towards north Odisha and adjoining West Bengal coasts during the subsequent 48 hours.

Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall activities are likely to be experienced in Odisha during September 30 and October 3.
