Cyclone Dana update: Depression intensifies into deep depression; IMD releases updated track
The depression over the East-central Bay of Bengal on Tuesday intensified into a deep depression and lay about 690 km southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 740 km south-southeast of Sagar Island (West Bengal) and 710 km south-southeast of Khepupara (Bangladesh).
As per the national bulletin (Number 4), moving at a speed of 7 kmph during the past six hours, the depression intensified into a deep depression.

As per the bulletin, it is very likely to move west-northwest-wards and intensify into a cyclonic storm by 23rd October 2024 over the East-central Bay of Bengal. Thereafter, continuing to move northwest-wards, it is very likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm over the North-west Bay of Bengal by the morning of October 24 and cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during the same night to the morning of October 25, as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting up to 120 kmph, the IMD informed in a release.
