Cyclone ‘Dana’ damage assessment report tomorrow: Odisha Minister

The Odisha Government will complete its assessment of the damages caused due to the severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ by November 3, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said on Saturday.

“Three districts have been majorly damaged including Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara. Balasore was worst affected and it was more due to floodwater rather than the cyclonic storm. After getting reports from the districts concerned by tomorrow, the State government will make a final damage assessment, which will be sent to the Central government thereafter. After submitting the final report, a Central team will visit the cyclone-affected districts,” Minister Pujari stated.

“Process of the Central government’s grant, which is to be released in this regard, will follow the submission of a final cyclone damage assessment report. However, we are prepared that the State government will immediately start disbursement of the compensation amount in Odisha when the final report is complete,” the Minister added.

Worth mentioning, some other districts were partially affected due to the cyclone.
