Acting on a tip-off, a team from the health department on Friday conducted a surprise raid on the house of a doctor on allegations of sex determination tests on pregnant women. With the help of local police, the team conducted a raid at the doctor’s house located at Friends Colony in Cuttack.

Cuttack Sub Collector, Kamaljit Das, was also present during the raid. If reports are to be believed, the raid team has rescued a patient with a bag containing cash. The accused doctor is reportedly engaged at Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

However, he refuted the allegations and called it baseless.

“I do not conduct any illegal sex determination tests, abortions, or prescribe any medicines. This allegation is completely baseless. Yes, a patient had come to meet me, but she was not here for sex determination. She was ill and so her family members had brought her here,” the accused doctor stated.

“She had come to meet me as I have contacts there. Two other patients were male, not women. I have kept the sex-determining machine because I had a clinic in 2013,” he added.
