Kathajodi river
The Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) has outlined an ambitious plan for the development and beautification of a section of the Kathajodi river bank. Approximately 200 acres near Baranga tehsil have been earmarked for the project, which received approval following detailed discussions at a recent CDA authority meeting. The proposal has now been forwarded to the government for final sanction.
CDA officials stated that a detailed project report (DPR) would be prepared once government approval is secured. The development activities will be undertaken in strict adherence to the guidelines set by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Water Resources and Forest departments, and the State Pollution Control Board.
Anam Charan Patra, Vice-Chairman of the CDA, said the agency plans to utilise over 60 per cent of the designated 200-acre area for plantation purposes. The remaining land will be developed to accommodate recreational facilities such as parks, open gyms, and playgrounds, balancing environmental sustainability with public utility.
Officials reaffirmed that every step of the riverfront beautification initiative would be carefully aligned with ecological preservation norms to protect the riverine environment while enhancing the aesthetic appeal and recreational value of the Kathajodi river bank.
