In wake of the box drain tragedy in Cuttack in which a minor girl lost his life on Tuesday, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Mayor Subhash Singh has ordered to put up plates showing information about the ongoing work near JICA construction sites in the Millennium City.

Moreover, CMC has also ordered to put up barricades around the construction sites. As per the order, security personnel will be deployed at the entry and exit points of those sites.

Besides, Singh has also warned stern actions against the erring officials while ordering an investigation into the incident.

“We have called the officials of the district administration, police and JICA for a review meeting. It’s an unfortunate accident. We will discuss things to find ways to stop these kinds of accidents in the future,” said Singh.

Meanwhile, a pal of gloom descended on the area when the body of the deceased was received by the family members. The family members and people of the area are crestfallen over the incident.

“I have lost my daughter. It’s an irreparable loss for our family. We will never find her back,” said the deceased’s crestfallen mother.

It is pertinent to mention here that a minor girl M Mohini died hours after she got trapped under gigantic pipes and a concrete structure of a pathway over a stormwater drain in Kesharpur-Gamandia area in Cuttack on Tuesday.

Several local residents on Wednesday gheraoed CMC Mayor and Commissioner while they had gone to meet the family members of the deceased.
