To induce a spiritual atmosphere on the Srimadir Parikrama Marg in Puri, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has planned to organize Sankirtan and some other cultural programmes around the temple from Dola Purnima.

Mahari dance will be organised every evening while Vedic mantras will be chanted near the Singhadwar every morning from 6 am to 7 am. Then ‘Nama Sankirtan’ will be orgnaised on Srimandir Parikrama Marg. 

According to the temple administration, such special measures have been taken for devotees coming to Puri for the darshan of the deities. They will return home with a different experience.

A decision to this effect was taken at a special meeting in the office of the Srimandir on Sunday.   

Srimandir Administrator (development) Pradip Kumar Sahu chaired the meeting attended by members of the Sri Jagannatha Temple Managing Committee and the heads of various mutts. As per the decision, cultural programmes will be orgnaised on Srimandir Parikrama Marg.

Every evening, programmes on Odissi music, Chhanda, Champu, Gotipua dance, Mahari dance and other cultural programmes based on the Jagannath culture will be organized on the special galleries on the western and northern corners of the Srimandir Parikrama Marg every evening.

Speaking to the media, member of Sri Jagannatha Temple Managing Committee Ramakrushna Das Maharaj said, ”A decision was taken to organize all types of traditional cultural programs such as Odissi, Pala, Mahari, will be organised at the galleries in the evenings on different festivals or occasions. It will begin from Dola Purnima.”
