The cricketer’s mother alleged that this happened due to partiality by coach BBCC Mohapatra.

“My son attempted suicide as the coach ruined his career by taking money. My son was not allowed to play in four matches. I had come to seek justice, but they beat me up. Injustice has been meted out to my son,” alleged the cricketer’s mother.

Ayush’s father Dibakar Mohanty said, “We were told that my son would be given a chance in the last two matches as his performance was not good. Other players who had not performed were allowed to play. Today, we had come to seek justice, but we were beaten up.”

Following the drama at Sunshine Cricket ground in Cuttack, police reached the spot and took away the parents of the cricketer.

Though no comments were received from the concerned coach, the secretary of the Bhubaneswar Athletics Association Soumya Ranjan Parija refuted the allegations.

“Other players were given a chance due to their performance. The player had not performed in three matches. We will investigate if the coach and manager gave anything in writing. There was a camp and selection was done,” said Parija.
