Covid cases rising in Odisha
Odisha on Friday reported seven new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the total number of active cases in the state to 30. The latest cases were confirmed by the State Health Department, raising fresh concerns about a possible resurgence of the coronavirus.
According to official sources, Khordha district continues to be the most affected, with 16 active cases, followed by Cuttack, which has reported nine positive cases. Meanwhile, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Balasore have each reported one case, indicating a wider geographical spread.
While talking to the media, Director of Public Health, Dr. Nilakantha Mishra, informed that while the situation remains under control, the Odisha government is keeping a close watch on developments.
“A few cases are being detected daily, but there is no reason for panic. The state is prepared, and COVID-19 guidelines may be issued soon if needed,” he said.
Mishra also informed that seven Covid-19 patients have recovered, and the number of active cases now stands at 23, suggesting that some cases might have already recovered or are in the process of recovery.
The Odisha Government is expected to issue revised COVID-19 guidelines shortly, especially with sporadic cases being reported across multiple districts. Health officials have urged citizens to remain alert and follow basic precautions like hygiene, masking in crowded places, and early testing in case of symptoms.
The health department is monitoring the situation closely and reassures the public that Odisha is equipped to handle any escalation effectively.
