Corruption crackdown in Odisha: 4 KG gold, 196 plots of govt babus detected In the last couple of months

Odisha has been witnessing a massive crackdown on corrupt officials. The Vigilance department has intensified its drive and so far it has registered 11 Disproportionate Assets (DA) cases against 8 Class-I officers, 2 Class-II officers and 1 Class-III official. The data is for the period starting from June 12 to August 25, 2024.

The value of total disproportionate assets unearthed by the Vigilance department is Rs. 49,35,98,714 during the same period. The information was shared by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi while replying to a question by MLA Upasana Mohapatra.

According to the Odisha government, the state vigilance has registered 26 trap Cases against six Class-I officers, two Class-II officers, 19 Class-III officials, one Sarpanch and four private persons from 12.06.2024 to 25.08.2024.

During the same period, the state vigilance also registered 2 corruption cases against two Class-I officers for misappropriation of huge amounts of govt money. The Vigilance department has arrested 45 persons including 16 Class-I officers and 4 class-II officers, and sent them to jail custody.

Major Highlights Of Vigilance Crackdown And Detections

Four Chief Engineer-rank officers have been booked by State Vigilance during the period from 12.06.2024 to 30.08.2024.

196 plots at prime locations of Bhubaneswar and other district headquarters were detected.

24 buildings/flats at Bhubaneswar and district headquarters and outside Odisha.

Gold weighing more than 4 k.g.

Deposits worth Rs.9.21 crores.

Cash recovered more than 20 lakhs.
