Ahead of the 5T Secretary’s Jajpur visit, some women Congress workers staged a protest at Chorda Square, leading to a tussle with the police.

The Congress on Tuesday protested against the 5T Secretary’s visit to Vyasanagar in Jajpur. Wearing black sarees, the party’s women workers under the leadership of state Congress leader Bandita Parida took out a rally from Gopabandhu Square. As they reached Chorda Square while giving slogans against the 5T Secretary, the police tried to stop them. As a result, a scuffle between the women workers and the police ensued.

Similarly, the members of the district Congress protested the 5T secretary’s visit to Jajpur town. While chanting slogan ‘Pandian Go Back’, the party workers took out a rally from the Red Cross Square and staged a demonstration. At Medical Square, they confronted with the police. There some youths wearing T-shirts with the 5T logo imprinted on them were spotted standing with bamboo clubs. However, their identities are yet to be ascertained.

“We will ask two to three questions to him (5T secretary). Today he is coming to Vyasanagar for women. We are the residents of Vyasanagar. So we will go there, meet him and ask him what he has done for women as he has been laying stress on Mission Shakti and women empowerment,” said a woman worker.

Notably, the 5T secretary is scheduled to attend meetings in Vyasanagar, Jajpur Municipality area and Jajpur town.
